Noise Directive agreed, liability rules debated by Ministers

A common position on the draft Directive on environmental noise was reached by the EC Environment Council on 18-19 December. Ministers also made progress on legislation dealing with waste electrical and electronic equipment, set out how they expect policy on vehicle emissions and fuels to evolve - and held a debate on a future environmental liability Directive which suggested a willingness by many Member States to go further than last year's European Commission proposals.
