Tioxide fined £150,000 for "serious failings"

Tioxide Europe has been ordered to pay £168,000 in fines and costs for discharging acidic effluent into a wetland wildlife reserve in 1999. The company was criticised by the judge for poor internal communications, lack of foresight and a laissez faire attitude to the clean-up.
