Birmingham sent back to the drawing board on air quality

The Government has asked Birmingham City Council to come up with more evidence to support its decision not declare an air quality management area (AQMA). Meanwhile, the Mayor of London has shied away from confrontations with taxi and bus interests in his draft air quality strategy, despite evidence that measures to tackle traffic congestion will be insufficient to meet air quality targets.
