Dioxin classified as a known carcinogen
The US National Toxicology Program (NTP) has classified the most toxic dioxin, 2,3,7,8-TCDD, as a "known human carcinogen". The compound, which is formed during incineration and present as an impurity in some pesticides, was previously categorised as "reasonably anticipated" to be a human carcinogen.
