Way cleared for 44-tonne lorries
Regulations authorising the use of 44-tonne lorries on UK roads came into force on 1 February.1 But the Government has failed to act on recommendations by both its Commission for Integrated Transport (CfIT) and the House of Commons Environment Committee intended to protect rail freight from the new competition.
