Regulators and industry warn of capacity crisis on hazardous waste

Sufficient capacity for managing hazardous waste is unlikely to be in place by 2004 to implement the ban on co-disposal, according to the Environment Agency1 and the waste industry. The concerns were expressed in responses to a consultation on implementing the EC landfill Directive. There is also wide support for toughening up the statutory "duty of care" for waste.
