US endocrine panel seeks review of chemicals testing

Low-dose effects from some endocrine-disrupting chemicals are real, according to a panel of US endocrine scientists, which has recommended that chemical testing protocols be "revisited" to take such effects into account. To the relief of industry observers, the panel was "not persuaded" of low-dose effects from the oestrogenic plastics intermediate bisphenol A - but the overall verdict will strengthen scrutiny of the product's potential impacts.
