Environmental legacy of foot and mouth

The environmental legacy of foot and mouth disease became clearer in May. The Environment Agency estimates that around 250 water pollution incidents have already been caused by carcass burial sites and other sources, with the Ministry of Agriculture (MAFF) technically liable for most of the pollution. And the Food Standards Agency issued a warning about dioxins in dairy products contaminated by carcass pyres.
