Meacher orders inquiry into Agency over Edmonton ash affair

The Environment Agency has been severely embarrassed after its claim to have no data on dioxin levels in mixed fly and bottom ash from the Edmonton incinerator was contradicted by a search of the public register. The discovery also embarrassed Environment Minister Michael Meacher, who has launched an inquiry to discover if the Agency led him to mislead Parliament. Meanwhile, it has emerged that some ash was used to make breeze blocks for houses.
