Ospar progress on offshore oil discharges, hazardous substances

A routine dispute about radioactive discharges from Sellafield took the headlines at the annual meeting of the Ospar Convention on the North Sea and neighbouring waters, held in Valencia on 25-29 June. The dispute yielded little of substance - but the meeting agreed new rules on discharges from offshore oil installations, and made modest progress on Ospar's strategy on hazardous substances.
