Company news

The Environment Agency has ordered Castle Cement to conduct "environmental patrols" around its Ribblesdale works to help prevent complaints about haze and odour. The company will have to carry out at least two patrols per day and report its findings to the Agency. The requirement was made by varying the company's IPC authorisation. Castle was prosecuted last year for persistent and offensive odour at Ribblesdale (ENDS Report 306, p 48 ).
