DTI raises renewables obligation but sidelines incineration

The Government is proposing to boost the renewables obligation in England and Wales by more than a third, while that in Scotland has been doubled. The move will compensate for a reduction in the forecast growth in incineration and the effects of the EU Directive on renewables. Beneficiaries include advanced waste technologies and small hydro. Electricity imports have been excluded.
