Last-ditch challenge for MOX plant

Environmental groups and the Irish Government have mounted legal challenges to the Government's decision to approve British Nuclear Fuels' controversial mixed oxide (MOX) fuel plant. They argue that the Government has ignored both the plant's sunk costs of £470 million and the uncertain prospects for MOX fuel in Japan, BNFL's main potential customer.
