Tyre burning in cement kilns

Existing cement kilns could have the capacity to burn some 150,000-210,000 tonnes of tyres by 2005, while an additional 110,000 tonnes of capacity could emerge if two new plants go ahead. But the big question is how much of this capacity will actually be utilised. Given what is known about the tonnages currently used at the Cauldon and Ketton works, it would seem unwise to assume that it will all be taken up.
