Emission factors bombshell for local air quality management

The emission factors used by local authorities to model traffic pollution vastly underestimate emissions of particles and nitrogen oxides from new vehicles, according to a restricted consultation by the Department for Transport, Local Government and the Regions (DTLR). The revelation may mean that scores of authorities have wrongly decided not to declare air quality management areas.
