Suspicions stirred about green fund from aggregates levy

Proposals for spending the sustainability fund to be paid for by the forthcoming aggregates levy were issued for consultation in September by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.1 The money will be disbursed through existing bodies and programmes - a move likely to provoke concern that the fund will be used to make savings in other public expenditure.
