Agency rounds on chemical tanks and flood risks

Ten serious accidents occurred in Britain during the first year of a new regime for controlling major industrial hazards, costing the businesses involved more than £4 million, according to a joint report by the Environment Agency and Health and Safety Executive.1 Lessons from recent accidents have prompted the Agency to make bunding around chemical storage tanks and prevention of flood risks to industrial sites two of its inspection priorities.
