Commission backs biofuels despite doubts over environmental benefits

The European Commission has published proposals which would oblige Member States to boost sales of biomass-derived transport fuels and enable them to establish tax incentives for biofuels.1 Environmental groups' doubts over the package's environmental benefits appear to have been rejected.
