UK faces shortage of authorised facilities for ELVs

The UK is set to miss the deadline for implementing several aspects of the EU Directive on end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), according to a report by the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee.1 There is likely to be a shortage of authorised treatment facilities, and an electronic system for issuing "certificates of destruction" is unlikely to be ready by the April 2002 deadline.
