Move on nuclear liabilities casts shadow over THORP and MOX

The Government has sketched out plans for a new authority to take charge of £42 billion of the UK's civil nuclear liabilities - including ownership of British Nuclear Fuels' Sellafield site and Magnox reactors. The move may spell the beginning of the end for BNFL's reprocessing and MOX fuel businesses. It also undermines British Energy's hopes of building new nuclear power stations.
