Domestic CHP on the horizon

Combined heat and power (CHP) units small enough to meet the energy needs of a single household could be on the market within two years, according to energy consultants EA Technology. "Micro-CHP" promises to reduce both domestic energy bills and carbon dioxide emissions - but its uptake may be hindered by high capital costs and convoluted arrangements for selling surplus electricity to the grid.
