BSI in line to run new product environmental information scheme

The British Standards Institution (BSI) may bid to run a national environmental labelling and information programme being developed by the Government's Advisory Committee on Consumer Products and the Environment as an alternative to a UK eco-labelling scheme of the classic "pass/fail" type. BSI suggests that the programme should be run as a profit-making concern, with products bearing a "green logo" based on the BSI kitemark.
