Sainsbury's tests solar-powered refrigerated trucks

Sainsbury's is conducting commercial trials on two second generation solar-powered refrigerated trailers prior to ordering a fleet of the units. Each trailer has 50 photovoltaic modules supplied by BP Solarex mounted on the roof, producing 4.25kW peak power and charging a 24V battery mounted in the trailer chassis.
