Waste strategy and planning delays land UK in court

The European Commission has decided to take the UK to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) over its alleged failure to prepare waste management plans required by three EC Directives - a step which will increase pressure on the Government, the Environment Agency and the devolved assemblies. The Commission is also bringing Germany before the Court over its laws restricting exports of waste for combustion in cement kilns.
