More fines for unfit drinking water

Thames Water and North West Water have both been convicted of further offences of supplying drinking water unfit for human consumption. Such cases are becoming increasingly common as the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) clears a backlog of investigations into discoloured water incidents. A Yorkshire Water challenge to the DWI's interpretation of the law will not be heard until December.
