Transport Minister's spin undermines air quality strategy

A report claiming that the health effects of traffic pollution in London have been greatly overstated caused a headache for Environment Minister Michael Meacher in January, just before he launched the Government's new air quality strategy. Many of the report's claims are rather shaky - and it appears that the press coverage was prompted by a briefing by Transport Minister Lord Macdonald.
