DTI tests value of environmental performance indicators

The potential benefits of using environmental indicators in accordance with the international standard ISO14031 is being explored in a new project sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). United Utilities is assessing their value in greening suppliers' operations, while BAe Systems and Aventis are exploring their value in internal benchmarking and as a route to a full-blown environmental management system (EMS), respectively.
