European Court gives a push to waste oil recycling

The Government is likely to have to review current laws and policies on recycling of waste oils following a recent ruling by the European Court of Justice. EC Commission v Germany (C- 102/97 9 September 1999) was an enforcement action brought by the Commission against Germany for failing to implement the 1975 Directive on the disposal of waste oils, but the decision has implications for all Member States.
