Power generators make varied progress on FGD

Plans to fit flue gas desulphurisation equipment (FGD) to three coal-fired power stations in England and Wales have moved forward significantly. But National Power remains firmly opposed to FGD retrofits - and has used specious arguments to seek a big increase in its sulphur dioxide emission limit. Meanwhile, a report for the Environment Agency will increase the pressure on the generators to abate releases of nitrogen oxides. 1
