Stora Enso becomes first paper producer to ban GMOs

The Scandinavian company Stora Enso has become the first major paper manufacturer to announce that it will seek to exclude genetically modified organisms (GMOs) from its products, and to promise not to use genetic engineering techniques to produce trees. The decision was a response to customer unease about GM technology, as well as warnings from major investors about the commercial prospects for manufacturers of GM products.
