Funding boost still leaves future of energy crops in doubt

Proposals for spending £30 million in England over six years to support energy crops were issued for consultation by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF) in March. 1 The funding will take the biomass industry only a small step towards a worthwhile contribution to official targets for renewable energy, and other funding is essential to make energy crops a commercially attractive proposition.
