"Carbon certified" electricity scheme launched

An innovative scheme to enable electricity consumers to control their emissions of carbon dioxide by specifying the carbon intensity of their power purchases was launched in the UK in April. The scheme is aimed at major electricity users who wish to manage their "carbon footprint" for business reasons, but may have pitfalls in common with emissions trading.
