Study backs tough limits on heavy metals in cars

Many of the proposed exemptions from the ban on the use of heavy metals in cars in the proposed Directive on end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) are unjustified, according to a study for the European Commission's Environment Directorate. 1 Its conclusions will help the Environment Council in its bid to defeat the additional exemptions proposed by the European Parliament in February.
