Phase-out calls as toothpaste biocide turns up in breast milk

Six Swedish agencies have called for an end to the "unnecessary use" of biocides in anti-bacterial toiletries and household cleaners. Triclosan, a biocide widely used in toothpaste, is a particular target because new research has shown that it is persistent and bioaccumulative in the environment and detectable in human breast milk.
