Green reporting on the up in Whitehall
Tentative signs that Whitehall is waking up to the environmental reporting agenda emerged with the publication of the latest Departmental annual reports in April. Nearly all Departments included at least something on the environment this time round - nine years after they were first charged with doing so - but the extent and quality of the coverage remains highly variable and targets and hard data are still thin on the ground.
