New advisory body enters GM "maelstrom"

The Government's revised advisory structure on biotechnology was finally completed in June with the establishment of an Agriculture and Environment Biotechnology Commission (AEBC). Its chairman told a parliamentary inquiry that he expects its discussions to be "turbulent", but promised a generally open approach and new ways of engaging the public in the debate on genetic modification technology.
