Water firms cut leakage by 7%
Water companies in England and Wales reduced mains leakage by 7% in 1999/2000, according to the latest Ofwat figures. Leakage fell from a total of 3,550 megalitres per day in 1998/99 to 3,310Ml/d. All companies reached their targets except for South East Water and Dee Valley Water. Both must now submit quarterly leakage reports to the regulator.
