Audit Committee renews demands on green tax reform

Fresh criticisms of the Government's approach to environmental tax reform have been made by the House of Commons Environmental Audit Committee. 1 In a report on the last Budget, it says that the Government is not taking a sufficiently strategic or consistent approach to developing green taxes, retreating from its promise to shift taxes onto environmental "bads", and failing to carry out environmental appraisals of mainstream Budget measures.
