EC habitats Directive poses fresh obstacle for Harris "superquarry"

Aggregates business Lafarge Redland has applied for a judicial review of the Scottish Executive's decision to delay its ruling on the proposed Isle of Harris superquarry. The application follows Environment Minister Sarah Boyack's decision to consult on whether to designate the site a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) - a move which has underlined the potential clout of the 1992 EC Directive on habitats.
