Royal Assent for Utilities Act

The Government made two minor concessions to the renewable energy sector in July as its Utilities Bill completed its final stages through Parliament and gained Royal Assent just ahead of the summer recess. 1 Ministers also signalled that they may reconsider their position that there will be no need to require suppliers to obtain a given proportion of electricity from costlier renewable sources such as biomass and offshore wind.
