Landfill sites fall under Agency's extended consultation procedures

The Environment Agency is now targeting landfill operators in its plans to involve the public in licensing decisions, hitherto reserved for more contentious incineration and nuclear industry proposals. In September, public surgeries were held in Leicestershire relating to an Onyx landfill application, and similar procedures were recently applied to a Hales Waste project in Norfolk.
