The Natural Step: "Aiming to be non-adversarial"

The Natural Step was pioneered in Sweden in 1989 by Karl-Henrik Robèrt, a cancer researcher who invited scientists to define the principles by which man could stop destroying ecosystems. After circulating 22 drafts, a group of leading Swedish scientists endorsed a consensus paper outlining a fundamental overview of the ecological issues and principles which underpin sustainability.
