10% renewables target looks shaky despite DTI policy moves

The Government took steps to increase the credibility of its renewables policy in October, with measures to boost electricity prices under the proposed support mechanism for renewables and an additional £50 million in grants for offshore wind and biomass. However, the package leaves no margin for error in meeting the 10% target in 2010. And it assumes a major expansion of incineration outside the support mechanism.
