COMAH, nuclear operators face extra charges for emergency plans

Legislative proposals are to be issued shortly to enable the emergency services to recover their costs in the preparation and revision of off-site emergency plans for major hazardous installations, nuclear sites and rail shipments of radioactive materials. The proposals are likely to anger operators of major hazard sites, who already face steep charges under regulations introduced last year.
