Isle of Wight measures its footprint
The Isle of Wight has taken part in a pioneering study to measure its environmental sustainability. 1 The project, funded by landfill tax credits, adopted a mass balance approach to estimate the island's "ecological footprint" - the amount of land needed to sustain consumption and waste patterns.
