Liddell approves CHP projects

Four new gas-fired combined heat and power (CHP) stations received clearance from Energy Minister Helen Liddell in December. Veridian Cogeneration proposes a 14MW plant at the Rugby Cement works at South Ferriby, Lincolnshire. Montell UK plans a 60MW plant at the polyolefin works at Carrington near Manchester. Scottish and Southern Energy is to build a 110MW gas-fired plant at Kimberly-Clark's paper mill at Northfleet, Kent. And PowerGen CHP got the green light to proceed with a 60MW station at a Merseyside goods yard.
