Little progress on scrap cars
The recovery rate for end-of-life vehicles rose by just one percentage point to 77% between 1997 and 1999, according to the latest figures from the Automotive Consortium on Recycling and Disposal (ACORD). The tonnage of parts and materials reused or recycled fell from 1.527 million tonnes to 1.446 over the same period.
