ISO14001 offers no stimulus to greening of products

The Dutch government had high hopes of harnessing ISO14001 to persuade firms to begin to tackle the environmental impacts of their products throughout their life cycles. But to their consternation, officials found that, if anything, companies with ISO14001 were less inclined to take action on greening their products.
