Honeywell Ltd prosecuted for river pollution

The Thames Water Authority successfully prosecuted Honeywell Ltd at Bracknell Magistrates Court on February 23, 1979, resulting in fines imposed totalling £800 plus costs of £25.

The offence contrary to Section 4(1) of the Salmon and Freshwater Fisheries Act 1975 involved "on July 7, 1978 causing to flow into waters containing fish, namely the Cut and the Bullbrook at Bracknell, liquid matter, Pentachorophenal, to such an extent as to cause the waters to be poisonous or injurious to fish". The fine for this offence was £400.
