Energy Saving Trust demands urgent action by Government and regulator

The new combined regulator of the energy industries must take "urgent" steps to extend electricity suppliers' domestic energy efficiency programmes beyond 2000 and introduce a similar obligation on the gas industry, the Energy Saving Trust has told a parliamentary inquiry. The EST also called for gas and electricity companies to be given ambitious carbon dioxide saving targets under forthcoming legislation on utility regulation.
